“I picked up my kids and niece from school and was visiting at my brothers house for a few hours (3 to be exact) when my kids and I went to leave my rear window was shattered. I filed a police report and the officer could not see any reason for my window to shatter like it did.”

NHTSA complaint #10670900, filed 2015-01, 139,000 miles

“The rear window on my 2004 Gmc Envoy Xl sle has shattered on closing for the second time in three weeks. I have contacted the GM dealer in our area and he denies that there have been any other problems like this with this vehicle make. It is january and the cold could be a factor; however, searches on the internet have revealed that this has happened to others in warmer climates as well.”

NHTSA complaint #10378388, filed 2011-01, 140,000 miles

“I purchased a 2004 envoy with 18,000 miles in the summer of 2006. Beginning in january 2007, my 3 year old son let me know that he was cold while riding in the back seat and begged that I turn off the air. Turns out that the vent in the back of the car was blowing ice cold air on my son. The temperature outside was approximately 10 degrees. I called and scheduled a time to take my car into the dealership, as it was still under warranty. …”

NHTSA complaint #10182174, filed 2007-02, 33,000 miles

“2004 Gmc envoy wiper module assembly failure. Intermittent failure of windshield wipers. Failed to turn off when turned to the off position. Chp helped me find and pull the fuse out to turn them off. After vehicle sits for a few days, wipers turn off. $435 for dealer replacement. Vehicle was purchased on 03/05/2004, but I neglected to get it to the dealer until 03/16/2004. Gmc says sorry, its out of warranty. 31k on vehicle. Dealer will have replacement part in, 3 days from today.”

NHTSA complaint #10185570, filed 2007-03, 29,000 miles

“After storing cargo in the rear of my 2004 Gmc Envoy Xl, I reached for the handle on the tailgate to close it and once I started to pull down an inch or two the entire rear window shattered. There was no warning or cracks or damage in the glass prior to the incident. I was covered in a shower of glass and shards were in the car, on the ground and in my skin. I have owned the vehicle approx three years and it currently has 88k mi on it. The entire rear window needs to be replaced. Based on my research I fear this may happen again which would be hazardous to anyone in the vicinity.”
