Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I was driving at night and my headlights (which are automatic type using a light sensor) went out for a few seconds without me doing anything. After a few seconds they came back on. They did it a 2nd time for a shorter time period on the same drive and have flashed off for a few seconds temporarily on a few nights since then. The interior dash/switch lighting inside the car does not go out, just the headlamps.”

NHTSA complaint #10649064, filed 2014-10, 219,500 miles

“When the outside temperature falls much (more than ~5 degrees f) below freezing, the windshield wipers fail to operate properly. It appears that they tend to keep a curved shape from resetting against the bottom of the windshield when not in use and do not clear the area directly in front of the driver causing poor visibility. This effect worsens as the temperature falls. A new set of wiper blades (winter blades, made for low temperature) failed to alleviate the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #10008446, filed 2003-03, 31,500 miles

“Abs light keeps coming on, and has already been replaced once. Dealer cant find cause. Driver window would not roll up all the way while driving due to it was misaligned. Underhood light bulb broken, dealer replaced bulb. Air bag light illuminates intermittently.”

NHTSA complaint #881109, filed 2001-02

“When driving, windshield wipers are needed, and windshield wipers are smearing up the center portion of windshield, causing poor driver's visibility. Consumer has contatced dealer. Dealer has replaced blade and arms on five different occasions, problem still occurs. There is a gap in the rear tailgate window, however it can not be adjusted because the hinges are welded in place by a robot. Vehicle experiences poor gas mileage, however dealer stated this was normal.”
