“On saturday, february 27, 2021, my husband (driver) and myself (passenger) were traveling on a saint louis highway and the rear passenger tire suddenly blew with no warning. There were no tire pressure or other warnings displayed on the dash of the truck. After pulling over, we discovered the entire side of the tire had completely blown (large holes over the entirety of the wall of the tire). It was not until a minute or two after the tire blew that the truck displayed a low tire pressure warning. …”
NHTSA complaint #11403656, filed 2021-03, 31,000 miles“The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 equipped with Nitto Tires, Tire Line: Ridge Grapplers, Tire Size: 275/65/R18, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that upon having the vehicle State Inspected, the State Inspector observed excessive dry rot to the tread of all four tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the State Inspector's assessment however, the tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but required the contact to cover the cost of replacing the tires. The failure mileage was 15,000. …”
