Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Door handles have been difficult to use since vehicle was purchased. After arriving at a destination driver tried to open door from the inside, and door would not open. Then driver tried pushing on door while using door handle, and the handle broke. Both doors have been tough to use. Difficulty appears to come from use on the inside only. Also latch on tail gate failed. The consumer was even more concerned about the possibility that the door might not open during accident or fire.”

NHTSA complaint #876586, filed 2000-12

“Owner states that the door latch is broken on the left side and that he had vehicle in the shop on three different times and they have not corrected problem.”

NHTSA complaint #808282, filed 1997-01
