“Consumer took vehicle in to dealer to have the windshield wiper motor circuit board and cover replaced due to a recall order. The vehicle works worse now than it did before it was brought to the dealer. Windshield wipers were working intermittently, and currently they only work when they are turned on high. Dealer informed the consumer that vehicle needed a windshield wiper pulse control module at a cost of $160.00.”
NHTSA complaint #10039827, filed 2004-03, 103,369 miles“I contacted general motors when I found out they had a recall on the windshield wiper failure. They told me my vehicle was not on the recall even though it fits the recall criteria. They want me to pay for a diagnosis before they will offer 10% off for replacement parts and labor. The little man doesn't stand a chance without the help of orginazations like yourself. Thanks for being here. Gene seelig.”
NHTSA complaint #765639, filed 2002-08“Nhtsa campaign id number 98v15000 states that dealers will replace wiper motor circuit board and cover on vehicles manufactured from aug 1994 to may 1996, however the dealer and factory both said my truck isn't covered under this recall even though my truck has this problem. They won't tell me why my truck isn't covered and they refuse fix the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #705863, filed 1999-04“Nhtsa # 98v150001, covers my vehicle and the manufacturer said my vehicle is not covered according to my VIN. I was never notified of a recall but the windshield wipers only work when they want to with no prior warning. We replaced the motor at our own expense.”
NHTSA complaint #759776, filed 2002-03“Windshield wipers work intermmitently. Mostly raining or wet conditions. Going on two years now. I see this relates to recall 98v150. However, the Gmc dealer used my VIN number and did not find recall applicable to this. Why not? I know of many others and even the dealer said he gets at least one a day for this problem. He is charging $149 to replace the wiper circuit. Others have gotten this covered under recall. Can I get Gmc to cover this?”
