Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I purchased a 2000 Gmc Sierra 1500 2wd ext cab pickup and took delivery about 12-23-1999. I requested camper mirrors and the pasenger side came with regular glass, which makes it impossible to see in the blind spots . Gm would not do anything about it even though later the newer models came with a small convex mirror in the unit. The replacement for the truck now calls for the convex mirror but GM insists that the one I got was ok. What does it take to get GM to correct this problem?”

NHTSA complaint #10066264, filed 2004-04

“The contact stated while driving various speeds with the windshield wipers engaged in rainy weather, the wipers worked intermittently. The vehicle was seen by a dealer for inspection who determined the bolts on the windshield wiper/washer arms needed to be tightened, which remedied the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10155484, filed 2006-04, 65,000 miles

“The contact stated on two separate occasions the power windows failed to power up. Upon inspection the dealership determined the regulator assembly failed. The cables frayed due to rubbing against the slider mechanism. The driver side door was replaced. Updated 6/23/2006 -”

NHTSA complaint #10158342, filed 2006-05, 47,000 miles

“I was driving at a speed of 60 MPH with all windows shut and my air condition on when my drivers side ext-cab window just blew right out of the truck. The latch that holds the window shut hit one of the kids in the hand and ended up in the passenger side pocket. The window hit the side of the truck then ended up shattering in the middle of the road with traffic trying to avoid the broken glass and me pulling of to the side of the road wondering what happend. That could have caused a major accident, and the latch could have caused serious injury to a child if hit in the face. Thanks jeff.”

NHTSA complaint #747082, filed 2001-06

“The accelerator had stuck, the transmission slipped, the flaps on the fender and the door trim had fallen off, the back window leaked, the heat shield was believed to have caused a vibration in the dash-per service dealer, the coolant light stayed on, the A/C had to be repaired twice, and the rotors vibrated.”
