“Electrical fire in driver's side door of 1999 Gmc Sierra 1500 pickup. Heavy smoke damage, door panel destroyed, trim around the door desstroyed and small area of carpet burnt by door”

NHTSA complaint #10003492, filed 2003-01, 49,700 miles

“We own a 1999 Gmc Sierra pickup. The odometer and shift indicator are the LED type. Both the odometer and shift indicator have shorted out and there is no way to tell what the mileage is or what gear the truck is in. This has resulted in two incidents where people were nearly run over because the driver did not know if the truck was in forward or reverse. Also, although the odometer measures mileage, we can't read it because the display is dark. …”

NHTSA complaint #10023671, filed 2003-06

“When I'm driving down the road at night the dashboard flashes on and off. All of the guages go nuts and the engine dies. They tell me that the computer has been soaked with water and needs to be replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10067772, filed 2004-04

“Vehicle was moving and had to place foot on brakes to stop. Abs pump had malfunctioned and failed to stop vehicle right away. Had to unplug pump due to wearing out of battery. Do not have any ABS braking features.”

NHTSA complaint #884631, filed 2001-03

“Abs braking light appeared on dashboard, and motor underneath the driverside wouldn't cut off when key was inside of ignition. Dealership was aware of problem.”
