“I have a 2005 Gmc yukon. The liftgate and liftgate window both will not unlock and open. The rest of the doors and locks are fine. These can only be opened from the outside, not from the inside. This is a serious safety issue for my family, especially my 4 year old who rides in the back. If there were ever and emergency we would not be able to escape from the rear of the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10360816, filed 2010-10, 110,000 miles

“Basically my lift gate and glass are stuck in the lock position and there is no manual way to open the lift gate. This has to be a safety issue and Gmc should issue a recall on the lock actuator to replace them all with a replacement part to ensure no one gets stuck inside there vehicle. This part along with installation can run you up to $1k so I can see people ignoring this problem until it becomes a public concern. I wish Gmc would fix it before someone really gets hurt.”

NHTSA complaint #10609497, filed 2014-07, 120,000 miles

“Dt: the contact stated when he was exiting the vehicle, with the engine off it began to roll down the driveway. He took the vehicle to the dealership, and they found the bolt that holds the shaft in the transmission was stripped. The bolt was replaced. Then, while exiting a parking lot, the vehicle shifted from drive to neutral on its own. The indicator still read drive, but would not go. He stated the steering column did register that the vehicle was in drive, and when driving over a bump, it shifted into neutral. …”
