Example complaints

NHTSA complaint #10456792, filed 2012-04, 151,000 miles

Body and structure: “The contact owns a 2001 Gmc YUKON XL 1500. The contact stated that the roof of the vehicle leaks whenever it rains. The roof is leaking from the factory made roof rack because it is corroded and created a hole. Water accumulates in the seats and under the mats, causing mildew and mold. As a result, his family becomes ill when the failure occurs. The dealer stated that due to the salt water rain, the fact that the vehicle is kept outside and has excessive mileage, and the contact is not the original owner, they will not repair the vehicle for free. …”

NHTSA complaint #10272631, filed 2009-06, 105,000 miles

Engine cooling: “My 2001 Gmc yukon xl burst into flames while driving on the highway giving myself and my 4 other family members seconds to exit the car in traffic for no known reason and signal of fire. My car has several recalls on faulty parts which catch on fire. What should I do, can you please help me. My insurance company (geico) refuses to help with reimbursement of the car or any personal possessions or now time lost from work causing more emotional distress.”
