“Reduced engine speed warning light comes on and drops truck to an idle. I feel this is very dangerous in traffic and on highways. My mechanic has not been able to locate problem. All forums and online help has brought me to dead ends. This is my last resort, I believe GM knows what the problem is and am hoping they will do the right thing and recall before someone is seriously hurt or killed from this issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10438674, filed 2011-12, 120,000 miles“Vehicle was shut off when consumer's child shifted the gear shift from park into drive. This caused the vehicle to drift down on the road and hit a parked vehicle. The new ignition system did not allow the consumer to turn the key toward the driver for accessory use when the engine was off and in park. When in accessory mode, the brakes did not have to be applied to shift the gears. This incident occurred as the consumers child had gotten of his car seat and climbed to the drivers seat.”
