“Engine went into reduced engine power (rep) mode and 4 diagnostic troubleshooting codes (DTC's) were set all relating to the throttle activation circuit (tac). When this happens the engine power is shut off immediately and the engine will only idle. This is a known issue with GM and is a potentially extremely dangerous safety issue. The entire tac system ( throttle body, tac module, PCM, wire harnesses/connectors) needs to be investigated.”

NHTSA complaint #10542372, filed 2013-09, 54,000 miles

“Vehicle stalls while in motion. Figured out it may be running out of gas due to the gauge not working. Now, it stalls when it only has a half a tank of gas, not completely empty. Put 16 gallons of gas in the 30 gallon tank, truck runs smooth. Replaced the fuel filter twice. Replaced the battery, tested the alternator, results no alt. Problem. Check engine light on, speedometer is off, gas gauge is off, and the rear view mirror display lights go on and off erratically. Biggest problem is when I break the truck will shut off. This has been going on since nov. …”

NHTSA complaint #10311117, filed 2010-02, 125,000 miles

“While driving at 65 MPH, the yukon just shut down and the battery light came on. Got to shoulder of road, put it in park, turn of the ignition and started it right back up. Did it again, 15 minutes later - same results. The next 7 times, the car at low speed (15-20 MPH) started acting like it wasn't getting gas and running rough, not pulling. Pulled of road. Would turn over and try to start and if it started, was very rough. After about 15 minutes, the yukon started like nothing was wrong and would run for 10-15 minutes. This also happened to me in june. …”

NHTSA complaint #10243410, filed 2008-09, 77,321 miles

“My 2003 Yukon Xl (51,000 miles) flex fuel sensor is rotting off the vehicle. Was told it is not covered. It is self destructing around the area where the fuel lines enter the sensor. If the corrosion continues it will cause fuel to spray all over the undercarriage. I am an ase master tech. And a vocational automotive instructor. I feel this could pose a severe safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10158086, filed 2006-05

“2003 Yukon Xl would die like it was out of gas when it still had at least 1/4 tank or it would not start when it had at least 1/4 tank of gas but if you added 1 - 5 gallons of gas it would start. Took to dealer and they said the fuel pump had low pressure and they replaced fuel sending unit. Seems to be fine now. Dealer stated they had not seen any other vehicles with this problem but I know of at least 4 other GM SUV's that are having the same problem in the small town that I live in”
