“Driving on highway at 80 MPH and accelerator stopped working and car turned off. We had to coast off toll rd and hope for the best. No warning and happened with our whole family in the car. I had a recall notice from manufacturer but last time I tried contacting manufacturer/dealer they said no resolution was available to repair recall yet and that I couldn’t drop off my vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11748343, filed 2026-07

“I was driving on interstate and thank God I got off the exit and vehicle suddenly cut off. An indicator came on stating to push start to restart vehicle while the vehicle shifted to Neutral on its own. Then a Low oil pressure sign came up on dashboard. I tried push start again and nothing happened. Lucky by this time I was just off the exit so I was able to come to a stop and shift to Park. I tried push start again and the dashboard just went dark and started making a clicking noise. …”

NHTSA complaint #11709520, filed 2026-01

“About 4 weeks ago my vehicle began shaking uncontrollably while driving. The check engine light illuminated and multiple warnings appeared including emissions system, variable valve timing system, engine and transmission failures shown on the GMC app. I contacted the selling dealership and was given an appointment 4 days later. Later that day I drove less than 5 miles to pick up my children from school. During that drive the vehicle filled with a strong gasoline odor and exhaust fumes were overwhelming. I feared the vehicle could catch fire. …”

NHTSA complaint #11715415, filed 2026-02

“On August 20, 2026, while driving my 2024 GMC Yukon XL Denali equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine at approximately 70 mph on the interstate, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power without adequate warning. The vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral and would no longer accelerate or maintain highway speed. This occurred in active interstate traffic and almost resulted in a serious accident as I attempted to maneuver the vehicle out of the flow of traffic. The engine would not restart, and the vehicle had to be towed to a GMC dealership. …”

NHTSA complaint #11760785, filed 2026-08

“On September 17, 2026, at approximately 22,861 miles, the 6.2L L87 V8 engine in my 2024 GMC Yukon XL suffered a sudden loss of propulsion and was subsequently confirmed by an authorized GMC dealer to be seized and require complete replacement. I was entering northbound I-75 from the Mt. Paran Road entrance in Atlanta, GA with two of my children in the vehicle. This entrance has an extended acceleration ramp where vehicles accelerate to interstate merging speed. While accelerating, the engine briefly stuttered and then the vehicle stopped producing power when I pressed the accelerator. …”
