“No brake light in both rear lighting assemblies. Started with the passenger side and now the drivers side. Gmc issued a letter in december 2019 stating they'd pay for repairs if vehicle is less than 6 years or 75,000 miles which ever comes first. We'll I'm over on both. Gmpp extended warranty doesn't cover this repair. Spend $75k for this truck and now this.”

NHTSA complaint #11317228, filed 2020-03, 85,000 miles

“The brake lights on my 2015 Gmc Yukon Xl have both gone out. I have been pulled over and questioned about it several times by my local law enforcement. I believe the manufacturer state that they have a life of 40,000 hours of continuous use but, only function for a fraction of this amount & they are $600-700 to replace.”

NHTSA complaint #11166042, filed 2019-01, 67,000 miles

“Passenger side tail light works only intermittently. The turn signal still functions, but the brake light itself fails. I was pulled over my police for a non-functioning tail light. New light assembly is $660 per light to replace at the dealership. This problem occurs regardless of the vehicle being in motion or not.”

NHTSA complaint #11103592, filed 2018-06, 39,484 miles

“My passenger tail light has stopped working. I have 50000 miles on my yukon and can not imagine that this should have happened already. The cost to fix the tail light is ridiculous $1300 for one light. I could by a used car for that price. How many complaints does it take for a recall??”

NHTSA complaint #11204973, filed 2019-05, 50,000 miles

“Both tail lights (brake lights and running lights in red) stop working with no warning to the driver. Third brake light does continue to work. This is noticed when parked and when in motion. This is a safety issue for other drivers crashing into our vehicle because they do not know that we are braking. A friend had to point this out to us in the school pickup line. First noticed on 2/13/20. Had to buy two new taillight assemblies and install.”
