Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The metal piece holding the 3rd row seat of my 2001 Yukon snapped. It is an aluminum piece with a hard coat of plastic on it. I do have the piece. When I was at the dealer talking to them, they mentioned someone else had just been in for the same problem. My issue is if I had been in an accident and someone was in the third row seat their safety would have been highly compromised. The third row seats are hardly used, so wear and tear should not have been an issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10102373, filed 2004-12

“Vehicle having multiple problems with seatbelts. The front seat belt would not pull out or return to position, two weeks later, the same problem occurred in the passenger seat belt. The rear seat belt experienced the same problem. The battery leaked acid from the positive battery post and the material on the drivers seat was wearing out.”

NHTSA complaint #10079713, filed 2004-06

“The front driver's seat is bent and the right side of the back pushes the driver's lower back forward and aplies pressure to his lower back and kidneys, the seat was replaced with a new one but it still applies pressure to the lower back and was improperly aligned, the consumer believes this is a factory defect. Nlm”

NHTSA complaint #562366, filed 2001-08

“Back of front passenger seat wobbles when coming to a stop. Vehicle taken to a dealership. Was told that defect cannot be fixed. Dealer had replaced tracking. It corrected defect for one month. Problem have reoccured again. Provide any further information.”

NHTSA complaint #891783, filed 2001-07

“Power adjusting seat malfucntioned, causing driver to move forward, and seatback moved forward, which crushed occupant into the steering wheel. Unable to stop the process. Dealer had to replace driver's power adjusting seat.”
