Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I own a 2001 Gmc Yukon and this is the second time the ABS module has failed on it. After it fails, the motor continues to run. Not only do you not have ABS, but the motor heats up. If you don't notice it right away, it will drain your battery, leave you stranded, or worse.”

NHTSA complaint #10396626, filed 2011-04, 85,000 miles

“Headlights fail to come on sometimes if steering wheel is tilted, it will have to move tilt on steering wheel sometimes they will come on in a certain position on the wheel and the interior dial will not make them come on, if they are on and high beamed or used it will make the lights go out all together, will not come on until tilt is readjusted.”

NHTSA complaint #10041722, filed 2003-10, 39,000 miles

“Multiple failures with 2001 Yukon. Dashboard light, air bag and computer malfunctioned. Problems starting after accelerating. The vehicles computer malfunctioned causing dashboard lights, airbag, l.e.d, and brake lights to turn on. The speedometer froze. When the consumer would press on the gas pedal the vehicle would not respond properly. This problem happens spuractically.”

NHTSA complaint #10099376, filed 2004-11, 13,329 miles

“Original equipment acdelco battery positive terminal corroded and fell off with no prior warning. No visible signs. Failure can occur at any time, with vehicle either running or parked, and at any location. Repair is a battery replacement and repair of acid-damaged parts located under the battery. I've since learned that this failure is common knowledge of GM repair centers and other GM SUV vehicle owners.”

NHTSA complaint #10093565, filed 2004-10, 28,482 miles

“The serpentine belt has been replaced twice and then the alternator was replaced because when the truck is started it makes a squealing noise and after all that, it still makes the noise.”
