2016: “I was riding home from work and got stuck in a rain storm and my tach speedo and fuel and amp gauges all quit working I have checked fuses and are all good I talked to the harley dealer and they sad it needs a new speedo and tachometer cluster they say when it gets wet it will short out. So I feel that is a major safety hazard and there should b a recall on them. …”
NHTSA complaint #11195421, filed 2019-04, 25 miles2018: “I was driving my bike when it just cut off and I heard something rattle. Harley picked up my bike because I was stranded and they said I need a new transmission. Then a week later after picking the bike up the bike cut off again while driving and now they said I need a new engine. I do not understand why would I need a new engine if my bike is brand new or a transmission. This is horrible and extremly dangeros becasue I was on a highway both times.”
NHTSA complaint #11142630, filed 2018-10, 2 miles2017: “On 7/19/17, while riding in 85+ degree heat, the clutch on the bike began to operate differently than normal, engaging earlier and earlier. (normally the clutch will not engage until the last few degrees of travel at the hand lever.) as traffic grew and became more stop and go, this became worse and worse until finally, with the clutch lever pulled all the way back, the bike continued to move under its own power, even with the brakes applied. Only switching the engine off kept me from hitting the vehicle which was stopped in front of me. …”
