“On August 23, 2026, the electronic power steering and braking systems on a 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid completely failed and locked up simultaneously while traveling at highway speeds. This caused an immediate and severe safety risk, resulting in a near-collision on a busy freeway with three occupants inside the vehicle. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. …”
NHTSA complaint #11765100, filed 2026-09“The contact owns a 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the steering wheel failed to turn in the intended direction. The contact stated that the steering wheel was stiff, and the failure was persistent. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000. The VIN was unavailable.”
NHTSA complaint #11770873, filed 2026-10, 15,000 miles“Concerned about a knocking/creaking type noise made at stop and low speeds when turning the steering wheel. This seems to be a common issue and Honda hasn't acknowledged the issue publicly. But I'm concerned about letting it go long term if American Honda does not want to provide a rack replacement.”
