“1991 Civic that is having the same ignition switch problem that Honda issued recalls for in mid to late 90's vehicles. (intermittent current in run position) from a brief web search, I find that this is a very common Honda problem. Potentially hazardous. Car will stall unexpectedly at it's own discretion.”

NHTSA complaint #10163540, filed 2006-07, 175,000 miles

“My car came to a stop going up a ramp after it began jerking . I had the car towed and repaired at my expense because it was no longer under warranty. Approximately 4 months later it happened again, it was the coil in the distributor and the driveshaft was bent both times. I had the car repaired, but was urged to contact Honda to find if there was an open recall I was told by shockley Honda that there was no recall, this was in 1996. Since then, my car has had thhe exact same repair 5 more times, and it broke down again yesterday. …”

NHTSA complaint #702740, filed 1999-01

“On five separate occasions auto completely lost all power. Three of these incidents occurred on main road streets, two occurred at about 65 MPH on the freeway. I had it towed in each occasion, to different repair shops since I broke down in 5 different locations. After describing this incident to a repair shop, the owner said that Honda has a recall out on ignition wire which is the continuous cause of this problem. How do I go about having Honda fix this problem for the recall. It has already cost me 5 tows, 5 mis-repairs, and almost a freeway crash. Thank you for your time.”

NHTSA complaint #744701, filed 2001-04

“Intermittent problems with vehicle stalling or not starting at all. While driving on highway vehicle stalled and was almost hit by a tractor trailer. Vehicle checked by dealer, who replaced fuel pump. However, stalling still occurring.”

NHTSA complaint #8017895, filed 2002-09

“The consumer was experiencing problems with alternator. While driving, vehicle shut completely off. The consumer has replaced the alternator twice. The manufacturer has yet to be contacted.”
