“On october 28, 2020, I was driving on a city street to work, when I heard a loud pop and saw a bright flash. All the dash lights came come then after a second everything shut off. The car stopped, but still rolling I pulled into a parking lot. I tried to open the door, but I couldn't. The locks would not move, on either door. Not manually. I was trapped inside. Thank goodness the car didn't start a fire, because I would not be able to get out. Not by opening the doors manually. …”

“I have a 2007 Honda 'hybrid'. Recently I received a letter from Honda reference to the batteries. As instructed I went to the dealership and had a new computer chip installed. Problem, my acceleration from start is greatly diminished and my fuel economy has gone down about 3 mpg around town. Please assist. Thankyou.”

NHTSA complaint #10350715, filed 2010-08, 54,000 miles

“2007 Honda Civic hybrid lost electric motor assist power in may 2010 when I was driving up a hill in downtown seattle traffic. Took it to Honda dealer, who confirmed low power assist and (without conferring with me) reprogrammed the power assist software and pronounced it fixed. One or two days after this service call, I again noticed weak electric motor assist on another hill in downtown traffic. …”

NHTSA complaint #10345575, filed 2010-07, 26,200 miles

“On my 2007 Honda Civic hybrid the ima battery will suddenly drop from a charge to no charge. When this happens the car loses almost all acceleration power because the gasoline engine is forced to charge the battery up. This has happened to me during acceleration onto major highways during rush hour which is extremely dangerous without acceleration power. I would like Honda motor to address this issue instead of issuing software recalls that do nothing to the car.”

NHTSA complaint #10377905, filed 2011-01, 112,000 miles

“This is a notification of a defect before it becomes a failure which causes accident or loss of life. I have repeatedly returned my 2007 Honda Civic si sedan for service (4 times) for a defect in the front suspension which could cause strut failure. The problem is unresolved. Internet research indicates many other owners (2006-07 model year) with the same problem. The consumer stated battery is dead if vehicle is not run for 5 or more days updated 12/12/07”
