“I purchased a used 2004 Honda rebel motorcycle 2 years ago used. I have only added about 400 miles to it for a total of 1,700 miles. The clutch started slipping the other day and barely moves. This is very premature for any vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10192996, filed 2007-06, 1,700 miles“Ever since I purchased the motorcycle, a 2004 Honda rebel, there were a few problems with the shifting characteristics. First, while downshifting, excess force was sometimes required to shift to the next lower gear. Second, after pulling in the clutch lever, the motorcyle seemed to want to creep foward. Third, diffuculty shifting to neutral while stopped. Every one I asked said that this was normal for this particular bike. Now, I find this hard to believe. …”
NHTSA complaint #10120614, filed 2005-05, 7,800 miles“Th clutch on my 2004 Honda rebel has gone out after 2500 miles and I believe it was actually going out in advance but I hadn't noticed it until recently when the vehicle started slipping so bad I couldn't get over 20 MPH”
NHTSA complaint #10122356, filed 2005-05, 2,500 miles“I purchased a 2004 Honda rebel 250 in may of 04. After only 1100 miles I had complete clutch failure. The Honda shop would only look at the bike for a fee and manager stated the parts would not be covered.”
NHTSA complaint #10136299, filed 2005-09, 1,100 miles“I purchased a 2004 Honda rebel 250 motorcycle in january, 2005. And after only riding it for 661 miles, I noticed something was wrong with the clutch. I took it back to the Honda dealership and sure enough, the clutch had already given out. The dealers is in the process of calling Honda corporate office to see if they should go ahead and fix it and have them pay for it rather than me. At the moment, I'm still waiting for the call from my Honda dealership, and my Honda rebel is in the shop not being worked upon.”
