“Seat belt on passenger front seat in my 2010 Honda FIT sport ratchets and will not release despite multiple trips to the dealer nothing has been done. All the dealer did was say maybe passenger is too fat for the car. We also own a 2007 Honda FIT sport and have not had that issue with that car. The issue appears to be caused by a shorter seatbelt being used in the 2010 as opposed to the 2007.”

NHTSA complaint #10382932, filed 2011-02, 19,000 miles

“As I was driving on the service road a vehicle in front of me stopped short, I steered my vehicle to the leftside of the road to avoid a collision. It was raining and the road was slick causing my car to go into a tail spin. I gained control of my car without making impact to anything and my driver side airbags deployed, although my airbags burst out they did not appear to inflate completely. Also my driver side seat belt completely came out of its track. I suffered a scratch/burn on the left side of my neck and a bruise below my right shoulder from the seatbelt. …”

NHTSA complaint #10554185, filed 2013-11, 22,000 miles

“I was driving my Honda FIT north on hwy 35 in alvin, texas. When I rear ended a gmc canyon pickup truck. My car made a popping sound filled inside of car with smoke, my airbags had tried to deploy but did so internally, the driver and passenger seat belts didn't catch they came all the way out.”

NHTSA complaint #10621205, filed 2014-08

“Air bag did not deploy during front end collision (car rear-ended another). Had been travelling ~40 MPH; braked over a distance of approximately 3 to 4 car lengths while travelling down hill. Driver sustained concussion.”

NHTSA complaint #10745787, filed 2015-08

“The contact owns a 2010 Honda FIT. The contact stated the driver and passenger side seat belt shoulder straps would not engage properly across the chest area and it also began to rub against the neck which caused chafing. The seat belt was not inspected by the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 5. The VIN was unavailable.”
