“I will be driving and my car will just shut off, I also have the extended stopping problem and braking causing me to manually steer. I have also had trouble with the car not starting or starting slowly. I was told there were several recalls before I purchased the car and they were repaired - the ABS was done last year but the problem continues. I would like the ABS replaced. I checked your website for outstanding recalls and found. I called the dealer and was told the ABS was done 2/04 but the truck continues to have the same problem - extending stopping. …”

NHTSA complaint #10136490, filed 2005-09, 43,000 miles

“When you go down the road the Passport tries to cut of , you keep pushing the gas and it will take the gas and then it want it dose not cut off,the speedometer goes crazy, took it to the dealer ship, and they said they could not find anything wrong , and had to call other dealer ships and still nothing was done , wanted more hours to try to find out, after keeping it 2 weeks and 3 hours of labor .”

NHTSA complaint #10134689, filed 2005-08, 78,000 miles

“Idling for a long time, or driving at very low speeds for a long time (stop-and-go in a severe traffic jam) also having most of the vehicle's electrical equipment turned will cause the battery to go dead because the alternator does not adequately charge. This may be a safety problem because driving in the mountains during severe traffic may cause the battery to discharge and the engine to stall; not allowing the ability to move to safe position.”

NHTSA complaint #10052368, filed 2004-01, 101,960 miles

“While driving 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The driver tried to restart the vehicle and was able to do so. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic could not duplicate the problem at this time. Please provide further details.”

NHTSA complaint #10107511, filed 2005-01

“The safety problem is the lack of warning system to note failure of the alternator. The first indication of failure is shutdown of the electrical system followed by sudden engine shutdown. This leave little time to move to a safe position. This one occurred on a mountain pass.”

NHTSA complaint #755132, filed 2001-11
