“I drive the car with the engine-idle-at-stop function disengaged. Several times when slowing down, but still moving, the car shifts into park; the AC and radio remain on. I have to press engine start to start the engine. Several other times when already stopped, such as at a red light or in traffic, waiting to make a turn, the engine shuts off and the car shifts into park. I have to press the engine start button to turn the car back on. …”
NHTSA complaint #11747238, filed 2026-06“At speeds above 55 mph, car will make a noise like paper being torn, followed by a loss of throttle response. This lasts for 3 to 5 seconds, then everything returns to normal. This has happened with the cruise control set, or while under foot control. No warning of any kind show up on the dashboard. We have taken our vehicle to the dealership on May 15 2025. They could find nothing after polling the computer or on multiple road trips. This loss of throttle has occurred six times in the last five months. …”
NHTSA complaint #11664302, filed 2025-06“The starter motor on my 2022 Honda Passport failed, causing a complete 'no-restart' condition after entering Auto Idle-Stop mode. The vehicle previously received the mandatory PGM-FI idle-stop software update under Honda Service Bulletin 23-008, proving that the software fix does not protect the hardware from failing. The dealership diagnosed a failed starter but stated that my 2022 model is excluded from the 10-year starter warranty extension under Service Bulletin 23-009, leaving me to pay out-of-pocket for a known defect. …”
NHTSA complaint #11755375, filed 2026-08“The engine idle at stop function is not operating properly. The on/off switch only works some of the time, so I cannot control the function. It seems to turn off and on at random. When in stop and go traffic for any length of time where I need to edge forward every moment or so, the car is hesitating while the engine re-starts. I get honked at and am worried I'll get bumped from behind while waiting for the engine to turn on and be responsive. I cannot get the function to turn off when I need it to for my sense of safety.”
NHTSA complaint #11503508, filed 2023-01“When driving on Highway the engine will lose drive power, hesitate and temporarily stall. This happened soon after we purchased and again multiple time and when in traffic nearly cause cars behind to crash into us. This is very scary. We have taken into Honda dealership multiple times and the first time they said it came back with code for transmission failure and scheduled a new transmission but later said they are disregarding code and no problem with vehicle. The problem is not collision avoidance since sometimes happens when no other vehicles around. …”
