“When reversing in a dark or low light area I can't see behind the vehicle on the backup camera display. It seems like there is no night vision and the reverse lights don't illuminate behind the vehicle enough to see in the display or the rearview mirror. I've almost backed into objects because you cannot see behind the vehcle.”

NHTSA complaint #11722433, filed 2026-03

“The backup camera on this vehicle is basically useless at night if there are no streetlights around. I don’t know if this is a combination of a poor camera and dim reverse lights or just a bad camera, but I think it’s a safety hazard. This is new vehicle using current technology, the camera should be able to see at night, or the reverse lights need to be brighter. What is the point of a reverse camera if I can’t see anything out of it.”

NHTSA complaint #11704636, filed 2025-12

“Backup camera image was too dark to see a tree behind the car. Driver backed into the tree. Dealer refuses to address faulty backup camera or backup lighting; claims this VIN is not subject to recall, so not their problem. Driver cannot drive this vehicle at night without functional backup camera visibility.”

NHTSA complaint #11758769, filed 2026-08

“The contact owns a 2025 Honda Prologue. The contact stated that while shifted into reverse(R) at night, the reverse lights provided inadequate lighting. The contact stated the image on the display screen was basically black, and shadows were visible. The brake pedal was tapped to illuminate the rear of the vehicle. The contact had not yet taken the vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,700.”

NHTSA complaint #11723603, filed 2026-03, 7,700 miles

“The backup camera at night is practically black. I find many people complaining about this online, but no fix. It is dangerous to back that car up at night!!! There must be a fix before someone gets hurt. Either upgrade the camera or upgrade the backup lighting”

NHTSA complaint #11678041, filed 2025-08
