“Hello, we are reporting an incident our 2007 Honda Risgeline. I am reporting this for my son who is the owner of the truck. He hit a pothole, after which a ticking noise started. When he got home, we inspected the vehicle and found that the gas tank straps ripped out of the frame, due to frame rust. The gas tank is laying in contact with the vehicle driveshaft. The ticking noise is due to the driveshaft balance weights contacting the gas tank and the shaft rotates. I am reporting so that you have accurate incident counts for your records. …”
NHTSA complaint #11471911, filed 2022-06“The contact owns a 2007 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that the fuel tank support was loose. While driving there was an abnormal clanking noise detected. The rear shield was striking the driveshaft. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer who informed him they did not have the tools to complete the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V430000 (Structure) for which the VIN was included. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. …”
