“Auto shut off and restart will shut the engine off at a red light or intersection but then it tries to restart but the stalls the engine. I have to shift it quickly into park and restart the engine with several cars behind me. This is a safety hazard. This has happened multiple times. Honda says that this isn’t covered under the 10 year extended warranty unlimited miles for this problem with the 2023. Ridgeline.”

NHTSA complaint #11772082, filed 2026-10

“I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2023 Honda Ridgeline with approximately 23,995 miles. My primary concern is an intermittent transmission/powertrain malfunction. While driving on the highway, the vehicle unexpectedly entered limp/fail-safe mode and experienced a significant loss of power and acceleration. This created a potentially dangerous situation because I was unable to accelerate normally while traveling with highway traffic. …”

NHTSA complaint #11755379, filed 2026-08

“Approximately six(6) months ago, my wife and I noticed a very noxious gasoline smell in the cabin of our truck, and upon further investigation determined that the smell was a direct result of gasoline that had infiltrated the oil in the engine. The oil was changed and the used oil smelled very strongly of gasoline. I sent an oil sample to Blackstone Industries to get the oil analyzed, and they, in fact found gasoline in the oil. Honda said that the results were useless because they wouldn't accept third party results. …”

NHTSA complaint #11718408, filed 2026-02

“I was driving 2 hours on highway trip (65mph) using cruise control. (20 degrees, light flurries, dry road, windy.) I then slowed to make left turn from the center turn lane. While beginning to cross oncoming lane while making the left turn, the vehicle suddenly lost power and check engine light started flashing. No prior warning to power loss. I barely cleared oncoming traffic, limped to shoulder, and parked. Problem was confirmed at dealership. The issue is known to Honda (also on past models). …”

NHTSA complaint #11578583, filed 2024-03

“After driving on an interstate or four lane road for a while (cold weather) when I pull off an exit and start to accelerate the truck has no power and the check engine light is on. The dealer tells me that the engine goes into a safety mode so that it is not doing any damage to the engine. I have to safely pull over and shut truck off and it must reset computer. My problem is you do not know there is no power until you pull out on the road that may have 55 mph traffic coming and there is no power to accelerate. …”
