“The ventilation system stopping blowing air. I went online and did some research about this and found that many others had the same complaint and how to diagnose it. I opened up the area under the glove compartment and found that a resistor was burnt up. This appears it could have been a very dangerous situation if it had caught fire.”
NHTSA complaint #10543785, filed 2013-09, 80,000 miles“While driving, water pours in from the sunroof while raining, to the point my head, shirt and pants are completely drenched. While driving the water is coming down atop my head coming down my face creating an extremely hazardous situation. Water also drains down on the driver's side floor board due to the sunroof somehow becoming blocked with debris. Definitely a major problem!! My carpets are moldy as a result. My car smells due to this occurring after it rains! Please repair this defect.”
NHTSA complaint #10894155, filed 2016-08, 100,000 miles“I have owned this truck since 2009, and it seems to be a common problem with the sunroof drain tubes clogging. When my vehicle was under warranty, and was going in for it's scheduled pmis I would have them blow the drain tubes out with air, but the clogging is now becoming more frequent, and the water if not removed can cause havoc with the cloth, electrical & flooring. Last week I had a mildew smell because of all the rain we have had, and the water built up in the sunroof drain area. …”
NHTSA complaint #10500803, filed 2013-02, 76,741 miles“The blower on my 2006 Hummer H3 stopped working while driving down the highway and we smelled a burnt plastic smell when the blower stopped. The smell eventually went away, but the blower never worked again. I found that this is a huge issue for not just Hummer owners, but other GM vehicle owners. The resistor and plastic clip were melted together and when disconnected, fire damage was evident. This resistor for the AC blower is located right under the glove compartment and luckily nothing flammable was close to this when is blew while driving down the highway. …”
NHTSA complaint #10436461, filed 2011-11, 65,000 miles“Last week I was driving locally home when my H3 cab filled with smoke blocking my vision and the A/C blower stopped...I nearly drove into a tree...if I had been on the highway at speed, I would be dead. I took the car to a local shop, as close as I could get...anyway my dealer was shut down as GM went into bankruptcy. The mechanic found that a wiring harness connector burned out, creating the smoke and cutting the blower off (see photos). I reported this to GM, asking them for refund of costs and to investigate this serious safety matter. They refused because I am out of warranty! …”
