“The driver side sun visor was broken, so it fell down while I was driving. It has potential danger. And it is hard to find a replacement. Tthough the dealer can provide the part, it's ridiculously expensive. I hope Hyundai makes the part more sustable and the genuine part can be available more. Thanks”
NHTSA complaint #10733318, filed 2015-07, 100,000 miles“My 2007 Hyundai Accent driver side sun visor has broken just after warranty went out. It will not stay in the up position anymore. It is in my face and very hazardous while driving. I have not replaced yet because the dealer wants $190.00 to repair/replace. I have read about numerous complaints about this on all Hyundai's. Please help!”
NHTSA complaint #10327764, filed 2010-04, 60,293 miles“Drivers side vanity mirror wouldnt stay up (like so many others) less then 2 days after purchasing from used car dealership (2007 Accent, bought in 2016). Since the thing wouldnt stay up while driving and I had someone following me to get someplace they needed to be asap, I just ripped the darn thing off because it was already cracked on the support bar. It came right off with very little effort required. I dont use it so I have no intention of having it fixed using velcro to hold it up after its put back in place. I removed the wiring and bar attachment. …”
NHTSA complaint #10853502, filed 2016-04, 92,000 miles“I was driving on the interstate when my visor simply fell and hit me in the face. It will no longer stay up or in the down position, it only hangs there blocking a good portion of the windshield. I have to use the rear view mirror to prop the thing up so that I can see to drive. I feel fortunate that when it fell it did not startle me enough to cause an accident. It is a hazard to not be able to use it in the sun, I live in arizona and it is brutal here. The passenger side visor is also starting to show signs of not staying in place, not as much of a safety issue, but still a problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10594942, filed 2014-05, 65,000 miles“While approaching intersection with green light, drivers visor fell down and completely blocked visability. Light changed causing three car accident. I was hospitalized due to injury and am now talking to an attorney about suing Hyundai as this is a known problem and has not been recalled nor have auto owners been advised of issue. From searching web there are thousands of Hyundai vehicles which vary in year of car that have this issue. …”
