“Stop lamp switch malfunction. Apparently this is/was a problem on many Hyundai cars from 2007 because they issued a recall on over half a million cars. My specific car (VIN number) was not included; however my stop lamp switch did malfunction. I feel like I should have been part of that recall.”

NHTSA complaint #10469291, filed 2012-08, 77,000 miles

“I was all most rear ended by another car when I realized I didn't have brake lights. Who knows for how long. I took it to big o tires and they told me it was my brake light switch that went out. I went online to see how much one would be and saw a recall. So I called for a reimbursement for the part but was told that my VIN number was not apart of the recall even thought my make and model and year were. For the exact recall problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10299122, filed 2010-01, 53,000 miles

“Brakes need to be replaced after 26,752 kms front and back. Dealer claims front & rear brakes completely worn. Alternative reputable repair company does complete inspection and brakes are only 60% worn and do not need replacement. If dealer is correct it is a major safety hazard after such little use. Further, another purchaser was servicing their Hyundai and she said her brakes need replacement after 22,000 kms. Unable to understand how this company can receive so many awards and have such poor product.”

NHTSA complaint #10342780, filed 2010-07, 16,720 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that the brake lights failed. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic:switches:brake light) but was advised by the dealer that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available.”

NHTSA complaint #10465800, filed 2012-07, 50,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Accent. She discovered safety recall under NHTSA campaign id number 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic:switches:brake light). The authorized dealer was notified of the recall. She experienced the identical failures as mentioned in the recall. However, the VIN was excluded from the recall defect. The current mileage was 50,000.”
