“I was unaware that Hyundai had issued a recall on these vehicles back on september 2, 2009. My car started not wanting to let me shift out of park, after I had applied the brake to do so. Just last night october 2, 2013. I noticed that my brake lights were on and not my headlights, and the car was in park, and the vehicle was off. I will attempt to get this fixed at the Hyundai dealership in enterprise, al. …”
NHTSA complaint #10546613, filed 2013-10, 110,825 miles“I was traveling (and likely slightly braking) on a highway off-ramp when I suddenly lost control of my vehicle. It felt like the right front wheel seized up, and then the steering column and dash started violently shaking and the car fish-tailed around. I crashed into a concrete barricade and ending up facing oncoming traffic -- which could have killed me and the driver of the oncoming vehicle, who also ended up crashing. Weather / visibility and road conditions were clear and dry, and there were no apparent o structions in the roadway. …”
NHTSA complaint #10983943, filed 2017-05, 54,783 miles“My brake lights do not illuminate when pressing on the brake pedal, and my automatic shift is stuck in park unless I press the button in the small hole located to the upper left to unlock it. I was informed by Hyundai that it sounded like I had a broken switch located by the brake pedal and that it was causing the brake lights to not register when I pressed in the brake pedal. I have an appointment for tomorrow but if there was a recall done on other VIN numbers and mine isn't listed I'm going to be upset.”
NHTSA complaint #10482604, filed 2012-10, 33,568 miles“My brake lights malfunctioned causing them to stay depressed and lit up until I disconnected the battery. Now they won't even come back on. I was also having issues with the shifter and it was stuck in the park position. I found out through NHTSA that Hyundai recalled thousands of vehicles for these same problems back in 2009. They said any of these malfunctions could lead to a crash. I had one representative from Hyundai tell me that they don't honor NHTSA recalls. The dealers refuse to replace the stop lamp switch on my vehicle because they won't even acknowledge the recall. …”
NHTSA complaint #10493518, filed 2013-01, 107,000 miles“While driving on the interstate in perfect weather the car suddenly fishtailed and then flipped three times. The driver was thankfully uninjured but the airbags never deployed. In inspecting the car the rear wheels would not move so it was ruled that the brakes seized up. The brakes were not being used when this happened suddenly and out of the blue.”
