“While driving on us 95 at night my engine stopped runing. I was traving at 65 MPH.at the time. The car was towed and later inspected. The inspection revealed that alternator had failed because oil had leaked from the valve cover gaskets directly onto the alternator which caused it to fail. This failure also affected the power steering & my lights as well . I was fortunate that my car was not struck as the traffic was heavy. .”

NHTSA complaint #10881239, filed 2016-06, 68,000 miles

“Seat: in august 2019, while my son was driving my car with both hands on the steering wheel and me in the front passenger seat on a city street the driver seat back started to fold forward to the point my son was screaming and scared not knowing what was happening he had to make an abrupt exit off the road into a parking lot we were passing. Once safely parked he pulled the latch on the side that controls the seat back and made the seat go back into place. Now as of may 2020, the seat will only go backwards and is stuck in that position and will not go forward at all. …”

NHTSA complaint #11387635, filed 2021-01, 159,000 miles

“At 12:50 am on 2/17/2019 when the car was pulled over on the w. Bound 72nd st exit ramp of I-80 in omaha, ne the engine started on fire. The car was pulled over because it was chugging on the interstate highway and ramp. The weather was snowing and there were police on duty due to other resons so the police saw the fire, called the fire dep't and had the car taken to the pollice impound lot. My insurance co. Inspected the car and declared the car a total loss. The VIN was checked afterwards and this car has a history of electrical engine shorts causing fires and I was not notified.”

NHTSA complaint #11193691, filed 2019-04, 145,000 miles

“The engine blew at 81,000 miles in a well maintained vehicle no warning lights ever came on. Hyundai corp and customer service took no ownership for this problem. No choice but to purchase a refurbished engine. The vehicle had been in for routine service 2 weeks earlier and no problems detected. Very unhappy with this product and the last of responsibility by Hyundai corp.”

NHTSA complaint #10470190, filed 2012-08, 81,000 miles
