“On 9/26/2017 at 3:55 p.m. I was involved in a single car rollover accident. I was traveling on hwy 97 in california at approximately 55-60 MPH. No more than 10 miles outside the city of weed. I hit something in the road or blew a tire. The car first went left and then right. The breaks felt as though they locked. When the car hit an asphalt curb it went airborne (there were no guard rails) and went into a small embankment. The vehicle rolled but landed upright. None of the airbags deployed. I also believe the seatbelt did not lock as it is supposed to when a crash occurs. …”

NHTSA complaint #11031914, filed 2017-10, 124,733 miles

“When trying to unbuckle the seatbelt it sticks and you can't get out you have to keep pressing and pressing and wiggling really firm several times to get it to release I'm scared I won't be able to get out one day or what if I wreck and can't get out !!”

NHTSA complaint #11245398, filed 2019-08

“The back seat (passenger side) seat belt - the connection in the seat, always goes down in the opening and is very hard to get up, I do think this is a safety concern, since sometimes you can't get it out to clip the seat belt into. The hole where the connection is, is too big, and when you try to connect the seat belt into it, it goes down. I have gone to the dealership many times, and they take it out. I have also contacted the Hyundai corp., but was told my Santa Fe is operating as designed and that there is nothing they can do for me. …”

NHTSA complaint #10451311, filed 2012-03

“My suv was involved in a Roll Over accident. The front driver tire blew out causing the driver to hit the curb which caused the SUV to roll 4 times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle while wearing a seat belt and not one air bag deployed. Major safety issues”

NHTSA complaint #11666888, filed 2025-06

“The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated the rear seat belt latch plate which connects into the lock mechanism would travel to the floor causing difficulty to engage properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.”
