“Shortly after buying this car car at 32.000, I began having problems with the steering. The steering has dead spots and feels extremely loose, it is very stressful keeping the car strait on the highway as it is all over the road. The steering light comes on but the dealers always tell me we can't find any codes . …”
NHTSA complaint #11205488, filed 2019-05, 50,000 miles“On 11/5/2019 while driving steering wheel locks up throwing a eps code. Had to pull over in 55 MPH traffic. Lucky I was able to get off the road. Turned off the car and restarted it and the eps light was gone. I made it home. On 11/7/2019 on the way to dealership when I lost all power steering and had to have the car towed to Hyundai of valdosta, where it currently sits. This is really dangerous.”
NHTSA complaint #11280679, filed 2019-11, 120,000 miles“I was backing out of the parking space and the car lost the ability to steer. I had to call a tow truck. I was able to pull forward into the parking space and wait for the tow truck. The car is new, I only have 1,032 miles on the vehicle. This was on a saturday, and I have no explanation as of right now from the service department as to why this happened.”
NHTSA complaint #10885815, filed 2016-07, 1,032 miles“I am experiencing problems with the steering. The steering has dead spots and feels extremely loose, it is very stressful keeping the car strait on the highway as it is all over the road. The steering light comes on but the dealers always tell me we can't find any codes . There was a loud what he thought was an electrical sound in the front end while turning the steering wheel as the service manager at tameron Hyundai put it. …”
NHTSA complaint #11206560, filed 2019-05, 50,000 miles“While driving on a busy four lane I entered a turn lane to cross traffic. Immediately after I engaged the accelerator the vehicle lost all power and steering, with a alarm stating 'hybrid system warning-do not drive'. One vehicle narrowly missed hitting my car, (as it completely lost all power and steering and left me stuck in the middle of on coming traffic). Researching today I see this is common between 2012-2016 especially. This is a very dangerous situation that was narrowly avoided.”
