“Scc refuses to come on saying scc conditions not met. When it does come on it turns off by itself saying scc conditions not met or check scc radar. Sometimes does not detect vehicle in front of me. Goes in and out between detecting vehicle in front of me and not detecting it. Randomly says check scc radar. Does not stay engage, turns off by itself, will not turn back on. The car was in motion on a highway.”

NHTSA complaint #11219332, filed 2019-06, 80,000 miles

“P0010 code and p0011 can hear a metal grinding noise when accelerating also fluctuating rpms. I keep immaculate maintenance and take excellent care of it. Absolutely no idea how but parked car everything was normal, started car next day and rpms shot high and light came on. They reset light and say nothing wrong but this keeps occuring. Highly upset as I have absolutely loved everything about this car until now.”

NHTSA complaint #11119409, filed 2018-08, 72,000 miles

“Driving home and all of a sudden this alert goes off. Brake system warning, pull over now. Check brakes. Car slolws shuts off and I'm stuck on the road. Had to get a tow and now car won't start. Shows same warning when I try to start it.”

NHTSA complaint #11318700, filed 2020-03, 150,000 miles

“While driving on a busy four lane I entered a turn lane to cross traffic. Immediately after I engaged the accelerator the vehicle lost all power and steering, with a alarm stating 'hybrid system warning-do not drive'. One vehicle narrowly missed hitting my car, (as it completely lost all power and steering and left me stuck in the middle of on coming traffic). Researching today I see this is common between 2012-2016 especially. This is a very dangerous situation that was narrowly avoided.”

NHTSA complaint #11354220, filed 2020-09, 116,000 miles

“1/14/18 upon entering a 4 lane major road from a store parking lot, my 2015 Sonata would not accelerate. I let off and pushed the accelerator pedal, no response though the RPM's were revving. The check engine light came on. I pulled over, shut the car off, and restarted the car. The car seemed to accelerate ok after some initial hesitation. However, the engine light is still on and the car is accelerating up to 11 MPH, in drive and reverse, on its own when the brake is released (no use of accelerator pedal). …”
