“This problem has happened sporadically since the first instance described below. I was driving in the left lane at 65mph on the highway during a bend in the road. The steering when extremely stiff, which is extremely alarming on the highway. The car chimed and produced the messages, check power steering and check lane departure warning system . From that point until I was able to stop somewhere safely, the vehicle had no power steering. Turning the car off and on is a short term remedy about half of the time, and the problem returns either immediately, or days later.”

It leads to a complete and sudden loss of power steering. This has happened at low speeds as well as highway speeds with no discernable pattern for replicating the issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11755620, filed 2026-08“While driving the Electric Power Steering turned off along with any services that relied on it, like the Lane Keep Assist and Lane Follow Assist.
