“My vehicle was parked on the hill of our driveway with the emergency brake on as usual. The gear shift clearly came out of park and into reverse due to a malfunction based on the following events: while getting out of my vehicle like usual to get my kids out and in the house, my truck rolled back while I had my four year old in my hand and my two year old still in his car seat. I was 26 weeks pregnant, and my son and I both got hurt in the process. …”
NHTSA complaint #10807077, filed 2015-11, 95,088 miles“This report is being filed out of my concern for the transmission's integrity and performance; a problem that doesn't seem to exist to dealership maintenance personnel. While most transmission complaints are no doubt speed related, this problem occurs when the car is slowing or downshifting. It consistently clunks as the car readies for stop. My concern is that the clunk will manifest itself at highway speeds and fail entirely. And that is a serious safety issue for me and my family.”
NHTSA complaint #10564194, filed 2014-02, 60,000 miles“While driving to work at 55 MPH my 2011 Hyundai Veracruz made a clunk sound from the engine area and starting dropping speed to around 20mph the check engine light illuminated as well. When I pressed the acceleration it would not accelerate but the car still stayed steady at 20 MPH. I pulled over to get out of traffic and turned the car off. I started it back and pulled out and it seemed to correct itself? After another 4-5 miles at same speed it did the same thing once again bit this time I was in heavy traffic on a very busy hwy. I limped to the next exit and turned the car off. …”
NHTSA complaint #10681762, filed 2015-02, 73,432 miles“Recall 197. Oil leak from valve cover gasket. Hyundai has refused to repair this. I've broken down 2 times in the last year. I've spent over $2000 on repairs. Hyundai refuses to reimburse me or repair the vehicle. What can you do to help.”
