“When opening the door, the interior driver's door handle was catching on the door panel. This went on for several months until I pulled the mechanism to open the door and the handle broke. The plastic part physically broke. I now have to roll down the window electronically and open the door from the outside. Exiting in an emergency would be extremely difficult.”
NHTSA complaint #10508468, filed 2013-04, 26,000 miles“Noticed the interior door handle not opening the door without pulling completely out to the end of it's travel. It broke completely and have to lower the window to open the door with outside handle. Dealer agreed to replace handle under warranty but had to order parts. Exiting the car in an emergency could be very difficult!”
NHTSA complaint #10491705, filed 2013-01, 23,496 miles“While opening driver's interior door handle, handle broke making it impossible to open the vehicle from the inside. The passenger door handle broke 3 months ago. The vehicles interior door handles keep breaking which makes an emergency exit from the vehicle extremely difficult.”
NHTSA complaint #10485113, filed 2012-11, 28,500 miles“In the 2.5 years I've owned my 2011 Hyundai Veracruz, 4 door handles have broken from the inside. The first happened within a year of owning the car and was the driver's side door. The handle became embedded into the door and could not be pulled. The door could only be opened from the outside (or by rolling down the window and reaching my arm outside through window and pulling on the handle from the outside). This presents a serious safety risk in that the driver is unable to get out of the vehicle quickly in an emergency. …”
NHTSA complaint #10562891, filed 2014-02“The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact stated that the rear driver and passenger side doors would not open. The contact was able to open the rear passengers side door but noticed that the seal on the door was fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technicians stated that the mechanism for the child lock of both rear doors would have to be replaced. The part was not available for repair and the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.”
