“I was driving on I-5 north ca going between lathrop and stockton where the speed limit is 70 MPH when my vehicle's engine seemed to shift into neutral. I barely had enough power to get off the fwy ramp where it was safe to park. I then had the car towed to an Infiniti dealer and had them check the car. After the car was hooked up to a diagnostic machine, I was told that the right mass air flow sensor-22680-7s00a needed to be replaced. I was also told that when this sensor went bad, the engine goes into a neutral mode or close to shutdown mode to prevent damage to other parts of the engine. …”

The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH he had experienced difficulty while down shifting causing the driver to lunge forward. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle was operating according to standards. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 536.
