“Was driving approximately 30mph on my way to the dealer for scheduled oil change and without any warning the car started making a grinding noise and stopped. It would not move forward or reverse. Managed to get the car to the side of the road and called the dealer for assistance. Upon inspection the dealer told me the car needed a transmission and transfer case because the internal gears were fragmented.”

The failure included the transfer case and the main gear box, where the actual gears were broken into fragments.”
NHTSA complaint #10329913, filed 2010-05, 53,000 miles“- during a scheduled maintenance on 11/12/2004 the contact was told she qualified for a transmission replacement. The vehicle had 30,000 miles. The contact had not experienced problems. The contact stated when she went back for the scheduled appointment she was told they made a mistake that transmission was fine. The vehicle started experiencing a jerking movement. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer ,and was told they could not duplicate the problem, the jerking eventual stopped. …”
