Example complaints

Brakes: “My wife an I have a 2000 Jaguar XK8 convertible and the plastic hydraulic lines ruptured above the interior light spraying hydraulic oil everywhere inside the car, including on us, I contacted the manufacturer and after a month or constant calls they didn't feel it was a problem of theirs and I should pay the $1,500.00 for repair, that just covered the lines and not the interior which was covered in oil. …”

NHTSA complaint #10231910, filed 2008-06, 69,000 miles

Air bags: “I get an airbag warning light which indicates that the airbag may not work. I took the car to the dealer, they plugged the car in and told me that they got a fault code indicating that the airbag cassette reel needed to be replaced. The cost was around $355.”

NHTSA complaint #10188655, filed 2007-04, 75,700 miles

Fuel system: “We can smell gasoline in the passenger area of the car. It happens whether the windows are up or down, whether the air conditioning is on or off, whether the convertible top is up or down. Usually happens in hot weather, but then again we have only owned and driven the car during the summer. The manufacturer feels that the problem is a combination of high altitude in the denver area, high ambient temperatures, and the fuel formulation in the denver area. They say it only happens in their 4.0 liter supercharged engines. The problem is intermittent. …”

NHTSA complaint #732957, filed 2000-09

Visibility (wipers, defrost, mirrors): “I was parked in my driveway, after driving home from the local supermarket with the convertible top down - and upon pressing the roof button to raise and lower the top to it's closed position - I noticed that the right rear (passenger side) quarter window would not raise up closed like the left side. Upon further investigation I discovered that this problem has been happening to many similar model year & make vehicles, and has been noted in TSB bulletin # 501-49. I respectfully ask that this issue generate a recall from Jaguar to remedy the problem.”
