“Our car is shutting off on us while we are driving it. We have come close to several accidents both on the highway and on the freeway. The car has been to a certified Jeep dealer several times. To which they tell me there is nothing that they can do. I don 't know if it is this new model or what the cause is.”
NHTSA complaint #10223749, filed 2008-04, 10,000 miles“I was taking off from a red light and the Jeep sputtered right after I took off but started right back up. This seems to be a common problem and do not want to make me involved in an accident.”
NHTSA complaint #10444311, filed 2012-01, 55,000 miles“2007 Jeep patriot - complete engine/electrics stall. Driving down a busy street and all the electronics and the engine turned off. Coasted into a side street, stopped, and put the car in park. It took about 2-3 turns of the key to start the patriot back up. Happened around the 3k mile mark.”
NHTSA complaint #10201784, filed 2007-09, 3,057 miles“In a car used only in city roads: - 21000 miles: power steering pump, gear and nuts (Jeep covered) - 32000 miles: left ball joint replaced (Jeep covered) - 45000 miles: right ball joint needs replacement (not covered by Jeep) this has created a lot of additional charges not covered by Jeep like alignment, tires, etc. Jeep liberty was also recalled due to a similar problem. Please consider this problem as from the current list of 37 complains for this car(including this) 24 are for the same problem I am reporting.”
NHTSA complaint #10365108, filed 2010-11, 21,000 miles“I bought my 2007 Jeep patriot brand new and it has been nothing but problems ever since. Today is the final straw and something needs to be done to chrysler. Everytime I press the brakes to stop, my engine stalls out. This problems frequency seems to have increased since it is raining. My patriot has stalled previously throughout the years but they were isolated incidences or so I thought. After reading Jeep forums online, I see this is a recurring problem which Jeep is not addressing. This is a major safety hazard as I live in a highly congested area. …”
