“My vehicle will sometimes not go when I press the gas. The brakes don't properly work, the 4 wheel drive lock fails, the esp light flashes, the traction control fails, and it makes it difficult to drive over 5 miles an hour. I have yet to be in an accident, but I fear it may happen. It happens immediately after starting to drive, and doesn't always correct itself. I contacted Jeep and they told me I'm on my own. It is a known issue with these vehicles and wonder why they haven't recalled them to fix the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #11163689, filed 2018-12, 74,850 miles

“After refueling the patriot I drove approximately 1/4 mile and the vehicle bucked, shuddered and shut off. The steering wheel locked in place and since there was no vacuum pressure the breaks we're not very effective. I was able to restart the vehicle after putting it in nuetral while on the entrance ramp to an interstate. This was the second time this had happened and until now I did not know they incidents were connected. The first time it occurred I had just refueled and was pulling up at a stop light and it turned off while I was stopping for the light.”

NHTSA complaint #11071560, filed 2018-02, 79,703 miles

“Purchased vehicle in december, complained of loose steering from day 1 nicely, inspection sticker was put on through dealerships mechanic which I later discovered was on local news for investigation of fraud like activity, reached out to credit acceptance, no results, later discovered they have past lawsuits, investigations, court rulings against them, as well as dealership having multiple business claims in ma/nh, I proceeded to bring my case to the bbb, district attorney as well, two written estimates of vehicle not being safe, still have one of two bald tires for evidence in my…”

NHTSA complaint #11208490, filed 2019-05, 59,000 miles

“2008 Jeep patriot 5 speed manuals are having clutch related issues caused my clutch master or slave cylnder failures. The vehicle suddnely stops or not able to change gear while driving. I was lucky that I had that happen while I was in my parking. The clutch reservor is shared with brake and clutch. There are so many 2008 patriot owners who are having same problems. In addition, when either clutch or brake master cylinder fails, brake fails too. I had two accidentes earlier when brakes didn't work. I took my 2008 patrot to dealer and they told me clutch master cylinder need to be replaced. …”

NHTSA complaint #10322429, filed 2010-03, 49,000 miles

“After filling up gas at half a tank the car stalls trying to shut off after driving a short distance so there's no power to steer or brake safely in traffic. At stops, the car will shut off.”
