“Just purchased the 2009 Jeep patriot for my son, it rained and it is leaking water in the dome lights and behind the accelerator. I am scared there will be electrical damage as well as mold and mildew. I have started looking up issues online and have found many people having the same issues. Shouldn't Jeep be held responsible????”
NHTSA complaint #10487515, filed 2012-12, 74,000 miles“2009 Jeep PATRIOT 4X4, 20,800 miles bad enough I had to replace the front left lower ball joint at this low mileage, but while in the shop my mechanic calls me to inform me that the k-frame is rotted out and needs to be replaced. A k frame or cross member on a car is the part of the car's frame bolted beneath the underside of the vehicle. The k cross member, which features engine mounts, is used to support a longitudinally mounted transmission. The k frame enables better handling and alignment with respect to suspension. He tells me to call the dealer and that it should be under warranty. …”
NHTSA complaint #10864584, filed 2016-05, 20,800 miles“Numerous problems with water leaking through the dome light and onto all electrical panels on the dashboard. Brought the vehicle to the Jeep dealer who claimed they cleaned the sunroof drainage tubes but this did not solve the leak problem. Jeep refuses to cover this problem under terms of warranty.”
NHTSA complaint #10401511, filed 2011-05, 10,000 miles“Water was leaking from the front dome light and rear and front driver's floor bed was soaked with water. The vehicle has a sunroof and we have read about many people having this same problem. Contacted Jeep vehicle was 2 months out of warranty and they refused to do anything. Told us to take it to a Jeep dealer and get it fixed ourselves. Many people have done this multiples times and their cars still leak. Jeep is still leaking on the floor beds. They are soaked on driver's side. It doesn't even have to rain and just the dew on the car causes the floor to be wet. …”
NHTSA complaint #10544614, filed 2013-09, 22,969 miles“The contact owns a 2009 Jeep PATRIOT 4X4. The failure mileage was 104,000. The VIN was not available.”
