“On sunday, jan 26, 2020, I was driving from eagle river, ak to joint base elmendorf-richardson on the glenn highway. I noticed that the hood of my 2017 Jeep Patriot was bouncing. I reduced my speed and moved into the far right lane until I was able to exit the highway safely. When I pulled into the parking lot on base, I found that the hood release had popped, but the safety latch was still engaged. I released the safety lock, raised the hood and then closed it.. I then took my Patriot to the Jeep dealer in anchorage and they checked it out and told me that it was safe to drive my Jeep.”
NHTSA complaint #11302759, filed 2020-01, 32,000 miles“Because they have not sealed the screws on the interior side of the roof that hold the rails on top of the Jeep it now leaks since we have attached a kayak rack to those Jeep factory placed rails. Jeep is not willing to repair it and it requires tearing out the complete interior headliner to repair. After it rains the water sits in the door frame and leaks into the floor of the backseat causing molding issues (last good rain we got I ended up with an inch of water sitting in the back floorboard). …”
