“While turning into my driveway my 2007 Jeep wrangler x (with 55000 miles) chimed and the air-bag , traction control, and anti-lock brake warning lights lit up. Upon investigating the issue I found that this leaves the safety systems inactive! A bad clock spring in the steering wheel is he cause of all the system failures. My vehicle is no longer covered under warranty, but I feel that this should still be covered by Jeep/chrysler. This is a major safety concern or me and my family.”

NHTSA complaint #10409150, filed 2011-06, 55,000 miles

“While coasting to a stop sign today, I went to press the brake pedal to find the pedal locked at the top of the travel. As I pressed the pedal, the ABS started modulating like the tires were locked up, but they weren't as I was on dry pavement and not slowing down at all. I frantically pumped the brake pedal and after several depressions (3-5) the pedal unlocked and traveled normally allowing me to stop the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10197758, filed 2007-07, 5,800 miles

“I own 1.5 month old 2007 wrangler.I was pulling into a parking spot at a local business. I put my foot on the brake and car doesn't stop. I went up on the curb. I brake again. …”

NHTSA complaint #10187193, filed 2007-04, 1,505 miles

“The right front brake hose between the frame mount and the connecting point on the brake cylinder, blew out at the snap connection end. This resulted in complete loss of all hydraulic braking ability. The cause of the breakage was due to the brake hose rubbing against the inner tire wall whenever the tires were turned to the full stop position of left or right direction. Both ( right and left ) break hoses rub the inside of the tires. Had I been driving at the time, there is no doubt that an accident would have occurred possibly causing injury or even death to people. …”

“- the contact owns a 2007 Jeep wrangler, and while driving off the ramp of a highway at 20 MPH the brakes would not engage properly. The vehicle started to vibrate ,and the contact heard a loud grinding noise. About 10 times and the majority of the time, it was when the vehicle was on an incline. The contact took vehicle to the dealership, and they stated that there was a problem with the electronic stability program (esp), and that in order for contact to avoid the failure he would have to keep the esp deactivated. …”
