“While turning into my driveway my 2007 Jeep wrangler x (with 55000 miles) chimed and the air-bag , traction control, and anti-lock brake warning lights lit up. Upon investigating the issue I found that this leaves the safety systems inactive! A bad clock spring in the steering wheel is he cause of all the system failures. My vehicle is no longer covered under warranty, but I feel that this should still be covered by Jeep/chrysler. This is a major safety concern or me and my family.”
NHTSA complaint #10409150, filed 2011-06, 55,000 miles“2007 Jeep wrangler/ less than 18 k miles: hit minor bump at approx 40 miles/ hr, front end began violent wobbling and I could not stop the wobble until I finally came to a stop. I was very fortunate that this situation did not result into an accident. This was the 1st time this happened to me, just purchased 2 months ago. Nothing has been done to fix problem. Did research and I am convinced that this is a manufacturer defect. I have been driving for 45 years and have never experienced anything like this; ever.”
NHTSA complaint #10416426, filed 2011-07, 18,725 miles“I've experienced the occurrence known as the Jeep death wobble twice now since buying this Jeep last year. Both happened while driving approx. 50mph on highway.”
NHTSA complaint #10934246, filed 2016-12, 87,700 miles“I opened the door to the Jeep and the wipers, horn and wiper fluid engaged non-stop without a key in the ignition. The only way to stop them was to disconnect the battery. When the battery cables are reconnected, the horn, wipers and wiper fluid sprayer are again engaged. On quick research, it was discovered that this is a known tipm failure issue that can also effect the airbag (preventing deployment as well as randomly engaging it while driving), fuel injection causing sudden loss of power and vehicle control as well as issues with lights and gauges. …”
NHTSA complaint #10994059, filed 2017-06, 40,810 miles“Ignition sticks. Cd player (6 disc changer) failed in 1st month of ownership and less than 1,000 miles. Was replaced but all of my cd's are in player and may not be returned. Sudden engine/electrical failure with spontaneous restart while driving approx 45 MPH.”
