“I have owned this Jeep since early may of 2013. Whenever I go to the gas station and fill the tank gas always overflows from the filling neck. When pumping gas when the tank reaches full there is a bubble effect and you can effectively hear the filler neck burp then it spews fuel all over the ground, side of the vehicle and anyone standing close to the fuel door.”
NHTSA complaint #10551880, filed 2013-11, 80,123 miles“Gas shoots back out of the filler neck onto me, the Jeep, & the ground before the pump cuts off every time I fill it up. This just started a few months ago. I bought the Jeep from a friend who purchased it new, & she said that it had just started doing it a few weeks before I got it from them. It never happened until the Jeep got about 40,000 miles on it.”
NHTSA complaint #10377956, filed 2011-01, 40,000 miles“Starting at 35k miles on my 2008 Jeep wrangler...each fill up at the gas station, gas would spew out after the gas pump would click off. This is a very hazardous condition. The only way not to have the gas spill out is to not fill the tank up. A definite flaw in design as I've been reading its happening to lots of Jeep owners from 2007-2010.”
NHTSA complaint #10379635, filed 2011-01, 35,000 miles“I own a 2008 Jeep wrangler jk and for about a month when I fillup at the gas station it overflows about a half of quart of gas onto the ground. I have brought the Jeep to storm's motors in southampton ny where I purchased same and agreed to replace tank. I have to pay the $100 deductible. I feel this should be a safety recall and not just a warranty issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10364067, filed 2010-11, 25,000 miles“Every time I fill up my gasoline tank it overflows. Spits back and gets gas all over, down the side of my Jeep, on me, and the ground. Its dangerous and smells awful when it gets on clothes or when I have to put the cap back on and its covered in gasoline. Very frustrating problem to have.”
