Example complaints

Body and structure: “- the contact stated that the tires on the 2005 Keystone Sprinter rubbed the top of the wheel well. The contact spoke with the dealership and was advised that the cause of the problem was due to the design of the trailer. The dealership informed the contact that the wheel was too close to the wheel well. This caused the tires to become deformed. The contact sent pictures to the manufacturer, and they advised him the cause of the problem was due to the trailer being overloaded, which caused the springs to bend. The vehicle currently had 2000 miles. …”

Tires: “Spare tire on our travel trailer has never been used. My husband was working outside and heard a large boom. The spare tire on the spare tire holder of the camper had exploded leaving a large hole in the tire. We are now very concerned about the tires on the trailer. If they explode while we are in route to a campground it could cause serious damage to our trailer and possible cause an accident. Your complaint information site does not list the tire on our camper. It is a mission tire st 205 75 r 15 DOT 4yb3 tc108 mho 402-07.”

NHTSA complaint #10205384, filed 2007-10

Equipment: “2005 Keystone Sprinter copper canyon rv and dometic refrigerator recall. Consumer states that dometic will not reimburse for the repair on the refrigerator. Ammonia had leaked from a cracked weld. The consumers reimbursement claim was denied because the repairs were not made within the specified time frame and the warranty had also expired.”

NHTSA complaint #10258970, filed 2009-02

Other or unknown: “The contact owns a 2005 Keystone Sprinter. The contact stated that the manufacturer did not include the brace plates that were needed to connect to the capture plate of the super glider hitch. As a result, the trailer became unhitched while in motion and caused a crash. An inspection revealed that the bolts that were required for the vehicle were never placed on the trailer. The manufacturer stated that the dealer should have automatically installed this kit, but they did not. No other vehicle information was available.”
