“ICCU failure. Car lost power while driving. I heard a pop sound and then the car displayed a warning light moments before losing power. Car was towed to the dealership where they diagnosed and replaced the ICCU and a fuse. This is a known problem since the 2022 model year and seems to be a very common failure that the manufacturer is unable definitively repair. Thankfully I was on a local street and not on a highspeed highway when this occurred.”
NHTSA complaint #11725397, filed 2026-03“I own a 2025 Kia EV6 Wind RWD. At approximately 14,655 miles, the vehicle experienced a confirmed Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failure that resulted in loss of 12-volt charging and reduced motive power. On August 1, 2026, while reversing the vehicle, I heard a loud pop from underneath the rear seating area. Immediately afterward, the red 12-volt battery warning light illuminated and the vehicle displayed a “Check Electrical Vehicle System” message. …”
NHTSA complaint #11756873, filed 2026-08“Hi, I had to transport a few lumber pieces that did not fit into the trunk of my Kia EV6, so I had to leave the hatch open (I pulled it down as far as possible and secured it via a rope against the latch). When I started driving the car started beeping frantically, but allowed me to drive. When I crossed an intersection traffic came to a temporary halt, and when I came to a stop my Kia all of a sudden shut off and would not allow me to put it back into gear again. …”
NHTSA complaint #11752073, filed 2026-07“Power completely dropped while driving in traffic. This occurred several times. I could have easily been rear ended. Also, I could have been stuck within an intersection, I could have been broadsided. I see researched this issue and found it was widely written about in KIA EV6 online forums. Kia should have checked for issues before I leased the 2025 EV and informed me before I made a decision to lease vehicle. This occured in first weeks I drove the new car.”
NHTSA complaint #11687215, filed 2025-09“ICCU failure caused loss of power on interstate. I almost got in a wreck because of this. Kia dealer refused to look at my car. Took vehicle to independent repair shop who diagnosed issue.”
