“While driving normally on the highway, I've continuously experienced the car randomly revving between 3000 and 4000 rpms while driving on the highway and on regular roads. It will get stuck at 2000 rpms and will not accelerate or decelerate no matter how hard the gas/brake is pressed. It has been taken to the dealership I purchased it from twice now, and both times they have told me they cannot find anything wrong with the car, no codes or anything. I do not feel safe in a car I'm paying $402 a month for. …”

NHTSA complaint #11296813, filed 2020-01, 13,800 miles

“In the range of 1200-1500 RPM and speeds in the 40 MPH range there is a vibration and hesitation especially on any degree of incline. More seriously, the problem repeats at 2000 rmp at highway speeds from 65 MPH upwards. There is a vibration and serious lack of response to increased pressure on the accelerator. It is worse on any incline but happens on level road as well. The car will not respond to trying to increase speed unless I really push hard on the accelerator and then it is still slow to respond. The problems seem to be getting worse possibly due to the summer heat. …”

NHTSA complaint #11229476, filed 2019-07, 200 miles

“My vehicle keeps stalling and its been having an oil consumption problem for several months. I keep taking it to kia, they keep doing oil consumption tests. I'm afraid to drive my vehicle anymore. I had an oil change done one month 3k miles later she was out of oil.”

NHTSA complaint #11530626, filed 2023-07

“I did not have an incident yet. I was advised by my local State representative Jimmy Gordon's office. They stated were unable to help me get reimbursement for the $8000 I just paid my Kia dealer, but that I should make a complaint on this website. What happened is that I was hearing an odd noise and it was slipping. I went in thinking it was my tires and it needed alignment- so I had them replaced , etc in April. But the sound was still there so I went back in . Then the Kia St Cloud dealer diagnosed that the AWD transfer case was the cause (pd $4704 including $130 surcharge! ). …”

NHTSA complaint #11743447, filed 2026-06

“The contact owns a 2019 Kia Sportage. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle very briefly lost all motive power before quickly returning to normal functionality. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.”
